Trick or Treat

This year's halloween drawing. Pen and Ink on A3 Canson Paper 185 gsm. 

Tres Marias

I made this on A3 Canson paper. I'm not really comfortable working on a huge piece of paper since it does take more effort haha. It didn't fit in the scanner so I had to take crummy pictures of it, hence the distortion on the sides. I'm actually hoping to sell this, if anyone would like to purchase....hopefully. 

Oh and the Tres Marias are Maria Clara, Mariang Makiling and Birheng Maria. I think that these three "Marias" stood out over the course of Philippine History. Their stories served as hope and lessons for people of the Philippines. 

Imaginary Dog

This was inspired by the fact that one of my good friends claims that I have a dog, and that she sees me jogging with the dog every morning. While it's sweet that she thinks she sees me, that person is definitely not me, since I have no dog at all!

I feel kinda sad since I was supposed to go to the movies with a friend. But we got the cinema time wrong and well, I was too stupid to check my phone for texts and missed calls. So it was a fail. I finished this instead of having a social life....Pen, ink and photoshop

Madame Butterfly

Hi people who are nice enough to stop by my blog! Here's another comic style work I made yesterday. It's actually based of an old watercolor painting I did a few months ago. I realized that even though it's only been a few months, I've learned a lot and well, I've also lost a lot. But the point is I'm still alive and I'll continue this "creative" journey for as long as I'm still alive and kicking!

Random sketches for the day!

I love drawing in torn scraps of paper. Obviously I fixed this up in photoshop to make it more presentable haha. It's not meant to be anything amazing. I just liked randomly sketching while waiting for my parents to finish work. 

Not the best day of my life :|

Nothing tremendously bad happened today. It just basically sucked. I couldn't draw to save my life and the electricity just went out. I tried watercolor again after such a long time. I need to practice on that some more. I shoulda spent the day lying in bed instead of banging my head on the floor. My right hand refused to cooperate and I wish now that I were ambidextrous.

I miss good old pen and ink. I drew this on scraps of paper I have lying around the room. Expect more, since I have a whole pile of scrap paper!

I haven't uploaded much in quite a long time. So here, I decided to doodle something while waiting in my mom's office. I finished it in photoshop, but I'm not totally satisfied with it.

If you've looked at my previous works, you'll notice this was the fish head lady I made a while back. I used it to practice a new method of digital painting. Also, I'm experimenting on the very tricky color wheel. Hope I can post more soon! 

Pages from my sketchbook

52 pages from my sketchbook. The tiny ones on the upper left are the first few I made...looking at them now, I realize how much I've improved. It is true that sucking is the first step at being awesome haha it's really all about going that extra mile to be able to become better. For the past few weeks...maybe I should say months... I've been quite sad and burned out. But now I'm pulling myself together and am going to try to do one page a day. So far it's been 10 days and 10 new pages. I'll upload them at the end of the month :) I'll also upload some new stuff I'm working on. I guess for me honing your skills (be it drawing, 3D modelling or whatever else you want to do) is like diet and exercise. You have to keep at it even though it is so much easier to give up. And after a while, you realize that your hard work is showing some pretty good results! You just have to have a little faith. And don't give up! 

House!

Haven't uploaded anything for a very long time. I'll try to upload frequently, but that may not happen either. Hahha anyway this is practice for basic perspective and digital painting. I have a long way to go! 

Doodles

I just got back from Singapore to finish fixing papers and my housing. I'm very glad to say Thank God! everything is set and ready. FZD here I come! I'm so excited to continue learning and growing more as a designer and artist. I made these two doodles when I was bored during the flight. I didn't do any new drawings while I was actually there because we were walking around and doing so much other things :) But all is done and I cannot wait for February 20!

The Green Queen

Pen, Ink, Markers

I've been working on this for three days (mainly because I got distracted/ side-tracked by several things like the TV, internet and get togethers with friends). So for the month of February, this is my first post! I'm quite excited for February because for me, this month will be a very literal life changing month. I'm going to start school in Singapore (FZD School of Design). I can't wait to learn more about art and design and experience life living without the comforts of home here in the Philippines. 

Swan Vogue

I've been doing a lot of pen and ink illustrations lately, so I decided to go back to the good old pencil. I bought a sepia pencil which was pretty fun to render with. 

Practice Day 1

I've decided to draw small and simple items to practice different techniques. For today, I wanted to try pointilism with a marker. Fruits: papaya, apple, orange, pear :) 

The Four Horsemen

I got sick, so I had to stop working on this last week. But now I'm feeling much better, so I decided to finish it today. It's my interpretation of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Not entirely accurate, but again, just an interpretation. I actually researched what the horsemen looked like. Apparently, one has a sword, another has a bow, one actually has a scale and the last one was death. I drew this on my sketchbook and just added the brown coloring in Photoshop.

Pens and Markers

Just a random drawing I made when I was sick. I couldn't do anything really big since I needed to sleep most of the day away. I'm feeling better now, so hopefully I can finish the big drawing I'm currently working on. 

Playing with Watercolor

Today I wanted to take a break from Pen and Ink. With the help of my teacher, I made this androgynous person (my peg was really a woman). I had fun using unconventional colours for the face. I think I shall make more portraits like these :) This is my first try, so I hope to improve as I move along. 

New Doodle for the New Year

I watched Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows today with my friends. Even though it's "rotten" on the tomatometer, I still say it was a pretty damn good movie. I personally enjoyed it. Anyway, I bought a new sketchpad that can fit in smaller bags (since my A4 sketchbook is a rather cumbersome thing to carry). I was doodling this in Cafe Ti Amo with my friends. I must say that I rather enjoy chatting while sketching with people who are also passionate about art :)

Happy New Year, Dragon Style

It's the year of the Dragon...soon (since Chinese New Year is just around the corner), and I must say 2012 has started out GREAT! Today James Jean went to my old school to have a talk about his work and art in general. His talk was short but insightful, informative yet funny. I'm being a loser by saying that I'm so damn glad he shook my hand and signed my book and moleskine! I even snapped some pictures with him! He's the kind of artist I want to emulate. I think that to succeed in this industry you have to not only love what you do, but also know how to market this to the rest of the world. James Jean was able to convey his thoughts with his art and he managed to produce tangible items that people would be able to keep for themselves. I hope one day I can express myself as well as he does. And it sure doesn't hurt to have a lucrative career in the art industry! This is quite a great inspiration for the start of a new year, so I'm very much looking forward to living out an awesome 2012.
